Yesterday was of course World Book Day and a great deal of our children came to school dressed as their favourite book characters. During the day various book-related activities were undertaken, including the ‘Six Word Challenge’ with children being tasked with writing a story using only six words (see examples below) and the afternoon culminated for the Prep department with a lively and highly entertaining poetry slam, where some of the children performed pieces alone or in pairs that they had penned themselves during the day. The two boys that won the trophy were worthy winners with their energetic performance.
Here are some of the brilliant and rather inventive ‘Six Word Challenge’ stories…
“My world changed; the twins arrived!”
“His parents never checked the well...”
“Oh no…the cat got out!“
“The sun slept as she slept.“
“The wind dashed through my fingers.”
“She’s the one. I’m the never.”
